Opportunities

Undergraduate Students

The LEO Lab has opportunities for undergraduate students. If you are interested in conducting field work at our study site and learn more about birds and data analysis, this is the place for you! If you want to hear more about opportunities for research and internships, send an e-mail to leonardolopes@ufv.br.

Prospective Graduate Students

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic MSc and PhD students to join our lab! Our research focuses on a broad range of topics, including bird taxonomy, biogeography,  natural history, behavioral ecology, and conservation.

Candidates must have a good background in ecology, behavioral ecology, and/or ornithology. Candidates with fieldwork experience are preferred, while good written, and oral communication skills are required. Positions are available through the graduate courses in Management and Conservation of Ecosystems at Federal University of Viçosa (MSc only – https://www.mcena.caf.ufv.br) and in Zoology at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (MSc and PhD – https://sites.icb.ufmg.br/pgzooufmg). Both graduate courses are free (no tuition fees!) and even foreign students can apply for a scholarship. Potential candidates should send an e-mail to leonardolopes@ufv.br describing their motivation for conducting studies in our Lab along with a CV.

Research and Colaboration

We are interested in collaborating with researchers from other institutions. Please, look at our "Research" section to know more about our ongoing projects. If you identify an opportunity for collaboration, please, send an e-mail to leonardolopes@ufv.br. We will be pleased to discuss your proposal!
